With Kid Icarus: Uprising due out on March 23rd new details all launching left and right. Nintendo today has revealed more detail about the different multiplayer modes that will be available.

Light Vs. Dark: Two teams pitted against each other. You want to empty the enemies teams health meter, transforming their last defeated team member into an angel. The team who defeats the other teams angels wins. It’s an interesting concept since the focus of the battle shifts from dealing damage to protecting your angel, although I’d still like to be able to communicate with my team.

Free-For-All: Must I go over this ? Six players killing each other to get the greatest score in this winner-takes-all battle.

The Matches can be set up locally or through internet access. Whenever there is fewer than six players in a match a CPU will be placed to fill the roster. That CPU is customizable before the beginning of battle!

Many of the weapons collected in single-player mode can be used during the multiplayer matches, you can also earn more weapons as a reward of multiplayer play. Players will pick out their combinations of weapons and powers before entering a match. They want to create incentive for players going back to collect better weapons in the campaign. You also have the ability to fuse weapons together at the Arms Altar. This creates a stronger weapons and allows players to make something that will fit their fighting style.

StreetPassing is fun and with Kid Icarus you’ll be able to get Weapon Gems, which can be converted to real weapons by paying Hearts. You can also fuse Weapon Gems together to create even better weapons.

Resident Evil: Revelation succeeds where other RE titles have disappointed. The game seems to take a hybrid form from the traditional survival horror and the newer action-paced Resident Evil games. It will make you jump within it’s ghostship atmosphere, but as you progress through the main story you’ll find it losing that feel or who knows maybe your just becoming braver.

The story, that pans out to a nice 10 hours, starts with Jill and Parker setting out on mission to find Chris and Jessica. Their last known location was on the Queen Zenobia. Little did these B.S.A.A (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) agents realize that Chris and Jessica were on a snowy mountain location researching the return of Veltro, the bio0terroist responsible for the outbreak at Terragrigia. Overall, you may get confused with who’s in what organization, especially as you go into the past and relive some moments when some characters where members of the F.B.C (Federal Bioterrorism Commission)., but now they’ve switched groups. You’ll eventually get a handle over it! Much like the title of the game insinuates they’ll be moments of confusions while playing till you hit the big REVELATION.

If you are without a Circle Pad Pro you will rely heavily on the dodge ability, which is a bit shady. In order to dodge you simple need to move up on your analog stick at the right precise moment, otherwise your character will end up moving forward into the blow. While the addition of dodge really helps out, it should not have been put on the one thing that controls your movement. It could have easily been placed on A or B. Outside of that, the game plays well enough so that you don’t need the Circle Pad to enjoy the game.

That being said if you are able to lay down the extra $20 on the accessory it’s definitely worth it. It may be easy just to buy both at once and tell yourself that it’s just a $60 game. The device feels ergonomic, plus it’s the perfect addition for a shooter. This should open up a larger variety of titles onto the 3DS. For Revelations, it allows the game to be played much like you were playing RE5 on a console. Dodging is still the same annoyance, but with the added analog you’re able to move around- thus manually dodging in a way.

Revelations gives you enough difficulty settings to keep you playing and replaying for sometime. Outside of just what difficulty you’re playing on, the game also progressively get’s harder as you move through the 12 chapters. 3D is also rather neat on this title, granted there’s probably no-one who plays any 3ds game in complete consistent 3d. Capcom has also given players a few more options in terms of the dimensional aspect. Within the option menu players can enhance the slider from ‘normal’ to ‘very strong’. It’s a fun feature to play with, I tend to like just the slightest amount of depth added to my play. If you turn on very strong though it looks like there’s literally a little world within the top screen on your 3ds.

Having a scanning device seemed really awesome at first. The Genesis scanner allows players to scan their environment to look for hidden ammo, herbs, and ‘handprints’. You can also scan enemies to research them, but getting to 100% generally always just gets you another herb. Granted, this is useful especially in sticky situations, but eventually it’ll just bog you down as something else to do in each room.

The graphics looked spectacular in this game, it may not have looked like a console game, but it fooled me enough not to care. The new B.O.W (Bio Organic Weapons) reflected the environments they were in. While aboard the Queen Zenobia these creatures took on an aquatic like appearance. This built the setting up into a high crescendo, unfortunately the game would take you away from this and stick you with other characters. Most of the time their environments were lacking, and I saw most of the cutaways as comic relief. This was true when you play as Keith and Quint, both two new addictions to RE family. It’s extremely hard to stay in the mood when you have one character whose radio codename is jackass.

Musically Revelations is full of wonderful scores. The music will fully emerge players into the story, be the cause of their jumping, and possibly be one of the reasons they close their 3DS after a little scare’.

This first track is played when you explore the Queen Dido, while it doesn’t reflect the horror atmosphere of the game, it portrays a rather grand and majestic air.

Ambient sounds are important as they’re not always the most critical thing on players minds but it moves them further and further into the game. This particular track is from the Laboratory.

Overall, Resident Evil : Revelation is a must have title for the 3DS

Saturday morning cartoons feel stronger now! Cartoon network is now running a DC Nation programming block that will included Young Justice, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. There will also be a few shorts within the realms of the DC universe. Most notable is the New Teen Titans! Granted, the show is not returning quite yet, they’ll be little shorts to tide fans over.

So, NO FULL EPISODES, we’ll just be shown short, funny clips during breaks or if a show runs a little short. The whole thing looks to be done in chibi mode as well. Hopefully, fans can get together and watch these, praise these, and Cartoon Network will see how much fans are excited for the Titans returns and they’ll pick up a sixth season.

After tweeting to Tim Schafer that he would be willing to fund Psychonauts 2, the internet exploded. (If you don’t consider that love enough for the game then I honestly don’t know what to tell you. ) Many fans were in a daze as to the possibility of a beloved cult classic getting a sequel. Finally though, Notch stepped out today and told us what he knows.

It’s a well-known fact now that Psychonauts is in fact NOT Double Fine’s next project. Their next project happens to be an adventure game that was funding completely out of fans pockets. In case you’ve missed it they started a Kickstarter and are on their way now to $2,000,000. If you’re curious what that means for the game check out the below video to see a very sleepy Tim Schafer.

Back to Notch! He has mentioned that Schafer and him will try to meet at the GDC (Game Developers Conference), and hopefully magic will happen there. He also hinted that there may be other parties interested in the game, and Notch really considers a sequel to be a profitable yet risky investment. He has NO idea whether anything will actually go through yet. Especially after Double Fine was able to fund a game in less than a day. It’s a possibility that we might see this move from them again.

In closing from Notch:

All I know is that IF the numbers work out and IF they still want to do it and IF they don’t decide to self fund a sequel by doing more crowd funding (which is honestly what I would’ve done if I were them), I would be most interested in doing this type of investment.

Point is, stop hyping over this, internet! You’re going to scare me into doing things secretly instead of being open and transparent via twitter. I am incredibly scared of the very real risk of people feeling let down just because I took a chance at something that doesn’t end up panning out.

Also, I realize you won’t stop hyping, so I’ll just go into hiding for a few years if it falls through

It’s not every week I go video game shopping, although I do love my shopping and I do love my games. This week though I decided to go down to my local Bookmans, which is basically a used book store that also has games/music/instruments/action figures/everything awesome. This store is one of the reasons I hope the industry doesn’t push for getting rid of used games. There’s so many titles that I’ve never even heard of or vaguely remember! That means my future-favorite game could have easily been lost to me, because I didn’t pick it up when I was younger!

So, this week I decided to ditch picking up a Vita (which I was probably going to do anyways) and go back in time. I grabbed Resident Evil: Code Veronica, since after finishing Revelations I wanted to re-play the series and collect them all. Voodoo Vince an Xbox game developed by Beep Industries and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It looks like a neat platform game, but it’s a original Xbox game that is not supported by the 360 console WHICH BLOWS. This probably means I’ll end up returning Voodoo Vince, unless someone will loan me their original Xbox for a bit. Lastly I got the Summoner, a Playstation 2 RPG released by THQ. It had fair reviews and seemed worth the $4.

I also got in two rentals from Gamemine, a rental service much like Gamefly. I got a new copy of L.A. Noire (hopefully disc 2 + 3 will work this time), along with Hunted: The Demon’s Forge.

That’s it for this week, stay tune for a Revelation review.

Getting to know the Gamer is a interview series where I ask you guys, the gamers, a bunch of questions pertaining to the industry. (Unless we’re lead astray) These interviews are a stepping stone for me as I move into a future as a game designer, who will always value opinions of my fellow gamers. If you wish to take part in the process I ask you email Brianna@opprincess.com with a little backstory on your gaming history.

This first interview took place with Erica, who you can find over on her tumblr here.

You’ve mentioned your first system was the NES. So, you’ve been gaming for a while. How old are you?

I’ll be 23 this September.

Your favorite game is Halo, what were your thoughts with them re-releasing it in an anniversary edition?

I’m such a huge fantard, I guess, that I was completely exited about it. I pre-ordered it, picked it up the day it came out.

Did you think it was a good re-release?

Yes, I was impressed how they re-masted it. My favorite part is how you can change between the old graphics and new graphics, you can see how much the game has changed.

What made you pick up Halo anyways?

I didn’t get an Xbox until after Halo 2 and I got caught in the hype, watching all my friends play it. Unfortunately, I didn’t really get into it until Halo 3 was getting ready to come out. Then I had to get the limited edition 360 to play it, and I just feel in love with the storyline.

Have you ever wanted to be a professional Halo player?

I have certainly wanted to do it.

One more Halo question than we can get off of this! Any thoughts on Halo 4?

Erica: I’m excited for it! I’m hoping they reveal more about the forerunners, story, and of course that Master Chiefs going to be alright. Combined with the books and everything I have theories about Cortana and I’m hoping they end up being right.

No disappointment that it was a new company taking over?

Oh no-no-no-no! I absolutely trust 343 Industries (fact check) completely. Most of it is made up of the Bungie(SP) staff in the first place, and these are people who care about Halo, the story, and will go out of their way to make sure they have all the details needed. It’s not like it’s some new company that doesn’t know what they’re doing picking it up. 343 has in a way spawned from Bungie and they’ve worked close together.

How do you keep up with what’s going on in the game industry? Are there certain websites you check?

I usually have a subscription to Game Informer, I don’t right now. So, normally I would keep up with Game Informer, look things up, read reviews, and some interviews.

When reading reviews do you generally check the score with a few sites?

It depends on my interest in the game. If I’m really into the game I’ll check and see what everyone is saying, what the different thoughts are, or to see what different people’s reaction to a game is. Otherwise, I just look to see what the basic thoughts are and wait to find out for myself.

Do you have any gaming tattoos?

I’ve actually have two tattoos and they’re both video game related. The first one I got the UNSC logo from Halo, and the one I just got a few days ago was the head of Ormagöden, which is kind of like the God in Brutal Legends. It’s specifically the version from the EA logo. I could be wrong, but to my knowledge I am the only person with a Brutal Legend tattoo, that I’ve seen at least. It’s my absolute favorite game that isn’t part of the Halo series. I’m all about Brutal Legend, it’s kind of sad really. Most of the fanbase has more of a cult following then it does anything.

Have you ever had a gaming drought? (where you don’t pick up a game/don’t care for a long period of time)

I do that frequently. I have a lot of interests, and while I really love my games there’s a lot of other things that I’m into. I get very one-tracked focused on something and I don’t get around to playing my games. Even if I just bought a game two days ago, if something else catches my interest more than that game then it’s going to be awhile before I pick it up. Also, I hit these weird periods where I don’t want to play any of my games now, because the games I want to play I don’t own and nothing else can satisfy.

Can you name any gaming studios off the top of your head, don’t worry this isn’t some crazy test?

There’s Bungie, the huge conglomerate that is Activision, then EA, Blizzard, Bioware, Bethesda, Ubisoft, and Double Fine of course.

Would you say it’s generally a good or bad thing that you can recall their names?

It’s usually a good thing. Everyone knows Bioware, they’re known for putting out great RPGs. Halo and Bungie are pretty much synonymous with one another. If a company is new and put out a game, even if it’s a great game they don’t really pick up on the name. You have to put your name out there and be constantly putting out things. It gets even harder for your name to get out there if you’re being back by a bigger company. I know who Double Fine studios is because Tim Schafer is pretty much my gaming idol, but not a lot of people know Double Fine specifically. If you look at Brutal Legends you’re just going to see that EA sticker.

How important are realistic graphics to you?

It would depend entirely on the genre of the game. When you have something like Call of Duty or Battlefield that are supposed to be hyper-realistic, you want the realistic graphics. Whereas when you got something like Mario, you want good graphics, but you want it to be cartoon-like and bright.

What’s your interest in the Wii-U?

What’s that?

On the Xbox do you own a Kinect?

Actually I just got one.

Next, obvious question! Do you like it?

Yes, but it’s actually the reason I’m in a funk with games. There are games I want for it, but can’t afford yet so I don’t want to play anything.

Gottcha, what games are you looking forward to using the Kinect with?

Dance Central for one, and I really enjoyed the demo for Kinectimals. It was a lot better than I was expecting it to be. I mean I knew I was going to want it anyways, with the cute little kittens! But still there was a lot more than I was expecting from that game. I also want Rise of Nightmares, and that Star Wars games- that needed to just hurry up and come out last week you know?!

What games have made you wonder if the developers actually ever sat down to play them prior to launch?

Well if I don’t think its going to be good I won’t play it. Most of the time I just hear about a game being a complete flop. I know that newest Metroid game left fans really upset because it does not follow canon whatsoever…

I always have to question games like Shadow Run and Brink, because they’re pretty made to be multiplayer only even when they try to fit in a story.

I have that problem buying games that seem to be just multiplayer, I always question how long and how large an audience the game is going to bring in. Plus, you have a huge amount of competition with the big multiplayer titles; COD, Battlefield, and Halo. Those are taking a huge majority of players away from you already. I don’t want to be sitting in a queue forever, like in Bioshock 2.

It’s neat at the time, but I’m really up in arms about the whole multiplayer issue. I know a lot of developers are thinking “Oh we need a multiplayer aspect” because that’s what people what. But it’s nifty and probably fun for those first couple of months… but it’s not going to hold up.

What is your opinion on female leads in video games?

This issue to me is multi-faceted. I love it when a game has a female lead, as a female gamer myself. It’s always nice to see that, but regardless of what I feel about the character most the time she’s there just to be sex appeal. I love Lara Croft and I love Bayonetta, but what are they there for? Those game’s are not made for girls in a sense.

And of course there’s the issue that you can’t have the strong female lead who’s unattractive, because then “no-one’s going to buy it”. Regardless, that they’re trying to bring in a larger demographic, the majority of the mainstream games are going to be made for male gamers and they’re going to market for male gamers.

They can give her smaller boobs, but she’s still going to be pretty attractive.

Gears of War for instance, I love Anya and Sam, but lets face it compared to the big burly guys and they’re huge armor that’s suppose to be the same as what the girls are wearing, but they have these itsy-bitsy streamline waists… Not to mention they’re gorgeous where the guys are all rugged and have deep lines in their faces. Not saying they would be considered unattractive, but it’s different. They’re built to appeal to the male gamers, in the I’m cool this is how we are kind of way. Where the girls are just look how pretty I am.

We saw an interview with Tim Schafer from Digital Spy stating that he had pitched the idea of Psychonauts 2 to a few publishers, but no one seemed enthralled by the thought. On the subject matter though he didn’t seem to want to completely drop the idea of a sequel.

“I’d love to do that game, but I’d have to convince someone to just give me a few million dollars, that’s all.”

After this interview dropped Notch soon Tweet the designer,

Let’s make Psychonauts 2 happen.

No word yet if Schafer is making some sort of deal with Notch. It would appear not since the studio, taking advantage of the buzz around their name this week, has started a Kickstarter for a brand new point-and-click adventure game. Originally, the team was only asking $400,000 be raised for the game and a full documentary behind the game maker process, but they have already received well over their starting goal. With 30 days to go, they have already received 46,334 backers and a grand total of $1,637,383.

The documentary is going to be made by 2 Player Production, the people behind Minecraft: The Story of Mojang. It will show ‘how the sausage gets made’ according to Schafer they’re going to take their sausage and ‘shove it in our faces’. Paints a rather lovely picture. Anyway, I support funding this project, it’s bringing back a rather dead genre and the to me the filming of it will be the most exciting part. For all those interested in game development it will give more insight into what goes on behind a Studio’s doors.

After a little indecision, I eventually came to the conclusion that I wanted Resident Evil Revelations. The game was selling out and I was hearing wonderful things about it, so luckily I ran down to my local Gamestop and was able to get the last copy they had. I ended up picking up a Circle Pad Pro along with it. I knew that if I was getting this game that I was going to get the right analog along with it for comfort.

Kinda through me off guard with huge nail covering the battery slot, took awhile to dig around my house looking for an adequately sized screwdriver. What I can tell you about the circle pad pro, is it feels nice. One of my biggest grievances with the 3DS was how little hand room I had. I was getting thumb cramps from playing less than an hour, keep in mind here that I have tiny hands. This addition is comfortable and I’ll probably have it attached to my 3DS whenever I’m at home.

The two problems are that you can’t change cartridges with it on, and you can’t get your stylus out of the system. These are little things that don’t stop you too much, although it can be annoying to take the system in and out to grab the stylus, especially if you like keeping it inside of the 3DS to avoid losing it.

I kinda like that I was able to grab a copy that featured Capcom’s typo. Apparently, you are able to contact Capcom and request a new insert for the front of the box.

Customers who have been affected by the misspelling on the Resident Evil Revelations packaging can contact Capcom Customer Service at 650-350-6700 or accounts@capcom.com and a new insert for the front of box will be sent.

Since when do we get club nintendo points for third party games?
